I am interested in explicit info about acclimating to living in Italy, meeting people, finding communities of people. In US we use meetup, Facebook, local classes or interest groups. In 7% towns not sure if that is the way to go. Thank you for putting your beautiful writing into the world!

We travel to Italy every year and enjoy researching and planning our trips almost as much as we do the trip itself. We are constantly looking for new experiences and sights. I dream about making longer visits someday instead of our usual 12-16 days. Any advice on the best way to enjoy a 30 to 45 day stay would be appreciated. We prefer not to drive and enjoy taking trains. Your posts and articles have been a big help to me in knowing more about how to best navigate Italy. Thanks!

I much enjoy your posts, thanks! Maybe you could also give some attention to the mountainous regions in the North. What is it like to live in Süd-Tirol, Aosta, Trento etc.

You write a beautiful post everytime. For those of us who would like to continue our travels maybe something on good language/ cultural immersion programs)(not food or wine. )

Also, some of us are trying to be conscientious in where we stay; avoiding airbnb , booking .com so as not to reward those gentrifying cities and towns at the expense of the housing needs of locals. Some suggestions on locally owned alternatives as you discuss areas to visit?

We live in Houston, TX. My partner was born in Naples, raised in Pisa. We visit 2-3 times a year. Last year we renovated an apartment in Pisa Centro in between the tower and train station. It’s an Airbnb now but we plan to live there in 3 years once my youngest graduates high school! Can’t wait! Love reading your posts!

I have traveled around Italy extensively since 1990. Upon retirement my wife and I have spent a month in Italy every spring. We thoroughly enjoy all aspects of the culture. Each time we have stayed in a different town for the entire month as inhabitants rather than tourists. We have deliberately chosen places that are not dominated by tourism, but allow us to experience authentic daily life. I am always interested in learning more about possible future destinations and your well-written and well-balanced pieces have been quite valuable in providing me with new ideas.

I am going to Italy for my first time in a few weeks (provided there’s jet fuel to get us home). It’s a trip I have wanted to take all my life. Your posts have been fantastic preparation for my upcoming vacation - the practicalities of booking trains, the cultural norms, things to see and do. I appreciate these insiders insights very much. I don’t know if I’ll move there, but we recently watched “Under the Tuscan Sun” and maybe we’ll stumble across that perfect villa as we hike the Via Francigena.

I checked the wrong box on #3 and can’t change it. I’d miss life in Italy/expat stories most. Culture and history least. I am a new reader, so can’t provide a lot of feedback. We do travel to Italy very frequently, currently here for 2 months, and are considering buying. So real life and expat feedback is valuable. Plus info on different regions, especially Piemonte, Puglia, Umbria, Tuscany pros and cons. Also appreciate food and recipes. Plus travel recommendations.

My husband and I have been to Italy several times and plan on returning for another visit in the next couple of years. It's nice to keep up with the Italian spirit through your posts.

I have visited Italy several times in the past few years, and love it! My partner and I were interested in moving to Italy (we are retired) but we did not think we could get visas. So we moved to Menton, France—right on the border with Italy! We plan to visit often.
