What I hate about TikTok etc are “content creators”- it’s like making tv or movies- inventing situations to attract viewers and make money. It’s entertainment- not reality.
Thank you, Lolly. I've been getting a lot of DMs, especially on TikTok and Instagram, from people who agree but don't want the backlash of saying it publicly. Glad I'm not the only one rubbed the wrong way by this.
I really appreciate this perspective. As an immigrant from the US to Germany I struggle with the American stereotypes that paint me as linear so often, but I also hear the German perspectives of Italians, and that is often similar to the tik tok phenomenon you write about. In the past I didn't give it much thought but I will now. Thanks for sharing.

And it’s not even GOOD entertainment.
What’s worse: American married to an Italian, where the Italian is a show monkey
Or
American married to a French person, where the French person “teaches about life” (aka, they’re being insufferable with a 10 ft pole up their ass)
Well written and thought-out. I’ve written several drafts on the topic but struggled to be calm enough to finish them. 😉
