Thank you for this article , perhaps Tuscany's most iconic symbol . Having been the " Fattore " of 3 large Tuscan estates I have planted hundreds of trees as avenues and in particular as property parcel markers . To note there are male and female trees and the wood excellent for roof joists . And as you say the virus which has done so much damage, is relatively recent . Not seen at all in the 90's when I first moved to Castel' in Villa , Siena .
Thanks for sharing Antonio. I did landscape design and contracting in Atlanta , Georgia in my earlier years and we used a similarly formed tree (Leyland cypress) as design accents and privacy fences. They are beautiful in a big landscape, in the ornamental sense, but as I have now learned, they have also made interesting historic and aesthetic fence posts.
