I don't understand the desire of Anglos to live in Anglo colonies when they go abroad. If I wanted to live in an Anglo country I'd go back to one. I came here bcs I DIDN't want to live around Anglos.
Many yes. Most, probably no. But nobody knows for sure since statistics on this are scarce. A proxy we have is transfer requests back from other countries in the EU. Between 2013 and 2022 Italy received 310,000 of them and took back only 11%. And it suspended them altogether in 2022. Other countries have long seen these migrants as a burden and are now pushing hard to send them back to Italy, which doesn’t want them either.
Overall, these are very modest numbers by North American standards. Does the data account for the more controversial immigrants such as asylum seekers, over stayers, and so forth?
Good questions. It's much less than Canada (23%) but only moderately less than the US (14.5%). Asylum seekers are included in the numbers, at least since 2020, when the Constitutional Court struck down the ban on registering them as residents. Irregular immigrants are not counted by definition, but the estimates for Italy are somewhat modest at just over half a million people.
